For the longest time I've been using a CRT monitor with a resolution that maxed out at 1024x768.
Today I installed a 19" HD widescreen LCD monitor that my mom bought as a replacement for her own a while back but didn't like (something about the text being fuzzy and most of what she does is word processing. I suspect her video card was at issue because this is crystal for me).
To put it through its paces I played an advanced level on Portal, watched a bit from Sunshine (and then screen capped the part I wanted to set as my wall paper), and flipped through my art folder. It was great for all but the last and that's only an exception because I landed on "Examining Gifts" and was shocked by the PURPLE.
Guys, that wasn't my intent. All the purple in Jozra's pants? Yeah, it was supposed to be a subtle addition to the shading, not OMG PURRRRPLLEE.
Just to make sure it wasn't a fluke I popped over to my DevArt gallery and just about everything I've digitally colored that has any purple in it is way more intense than I intended.
~Xilin came home and I tested the same images on his computer/monitor set up and sure enough, same thing.
The obvious verdict: My old monitor has been LYING to me for years!
Skip is right, I should've upgraded ages ago.
So I apologize for the eye-searing purple I've been subjecting you guys to for the past few years. Digital art should look more like I meant it to from here on out.

Anything is possible, but not likely...
Ah well. I've been using "Catamount" since about 1997 but I know I'm not the only one out there! (hence the ocassional catamount3 for me).

Thanks for the comment!
